How to Trust in Miracles

What are you afraid of? What are you truly fearful of that holds you back? As I have consciously become aware of the insidious role of fear in my life, my ability to face and then eliminate those limited sets of beliefs has grown tremendously.

But when setting fear aside, faith must enter in the void that our limiting thoughts pervade our minds. Faith may be my single favorite topic to teach on simply because it is the precursor to each and every miracle in my life.

When fear and trepidation permeated my being last month, I surrendered my life to God and released the ironclad grip I held onto that prevented Grace from entering my life's circumstances.

When I began to think about surrender, even more fear entered my mind; while I believe in God and miracles, I couldn't see how my stepping outside the chain of command could ever be beneficial. That is because I thought I knew better than God.

With courage and conviction (and enough signs of reassurance), I let go. I took a brief and much-needed break to reflect on my current plans. And I bowed to the greater plan at hand.

A Course in Miracles teaches:

The presence of fear is a sure sign that you are trusting in your own strength. The awareness that there is nothing to fear shows that somewhere in your mind, though not necessarily in a place you recognize as yet, you have remembered God, and let His strength take the place of your weakness. The instant you are willing to do this there is indeed nothing to fear.

-A Course in Miracles

I adore this excerpt because it illustrates how fear is fed by our own limited minds. We each have the power to lean on our Higher Power; there resides a light above (and around us) that is there for our highest good in combating life’s obstacles.

And there lives within us a courageous heart that is capable of extinguishing fear. Together, our Higher Power and heart team up to overcome the singular strength of our own mind. Tapping into the Universal and limitless energy that is God by trusting that there is a greater plan, and then leaning on this idea instead of our own understanding of possibilities, is essential in combatting fear.

Fear seems impossible to negate in our mind because it is ten times easier to accept the illusion as we see it rather than trust in the all-seeing truth (especially when we cannot see it with our own eyes yet).

But that’s the incomprehensible magic of leaning on faith; those who trust in God’s grace by allowing the unfolding of life to happen as it is meant to (instead of placing our own control on outcomes) will surely experience miracles beyond measure.

Weeks after I surrendered my outcomes to God (along with a multitude of prayers), I was led to the exact situations that have proved to be miracles.

Before we can let go of outcomes and forego attachment, we need just sit with our very fears. Admit they are there, give your Ego the credit it deserves for doing the job it is given, and humbly bow to the potential of faith to enter our lives.

Trust that there is a solution you are not privy to, and simply march ahead with the best of intentions. Follow where the light takes you by stepping bravely through doors that are gracefully revealed to you.

Magic exists, but only to those who believe in the power of faith. Do you believe in miracles? Miracles are answered prayers (many times in ways or forms completely unexpected); which is why faith must be honored at all times.

Our ego is reluctant to accept help or take chances or enter doors, but God cannot answer our prayers without our help. So, say yes when opportunities arise (especially when your heart is guiding you to these very situations).

And always keep a steadfast sense of faith with you as you enter the blessed territory meant for you.
