Lately, I'm encountering lots of beautiful yet frustrated souls. These women are just like me; they want more meaning, passion and purpose in their life. They feel stuck and uninspired. They feel like they go through the motions of life. I get how this feels, and if this is you, know that there is a way. There is a path that leads to more passion, purpose and meaning in your daily life. It it possible and yet it feels impossible to start down this path.
Before you take one step forward, I'd like to share the wisdom I gleaned along my path. I pray it empowers you as you encounter the purpose you came here to fulfill.
Your life purpose involves an activity that you would do for free. It is also based on service of some kind—an impact on the greater good of a person, place or concept. It must light your inner spark so brightly that you are filled with love, excitement and enjoyment when you think about it and even more so when you partake in it.
When I asked my father how he landed a career he loves so dearly, he said he would do it for free. In fact, before my father switched careers, he was volunteering to do the very work he is now paid to do.
Someone once tried to talk me out of doing what I love for a career, saying there's no security or stability in following your heart, that love and money don't mix. But I've learned along the path to my own joyful, passionate career that the only lasting stability and financial freedom comes from pursuing work that lights your heart on fire. Otherwise, without heart in the mix, you'll never have the passionate desire to devote your life to this work.
When you know deep in your heart that the work you do makes a meaningful impact on the lives of others and the world at large, nothing will stop you from making a mark from your heart. When you live in alignment with your purpose and express the fullness of your love and serve with your whole heart, you cannot help but welcome abundance. You won't be doing it for the money so the money will always flow to you with ease. And until you follow your heart to a career that you'd do for free, you'll be chasing after money.
Nothing that is chased after—or done for selfish gain—ever comes to us with ease. It's time to step into the flow of your loving purpose that is desperately trying to come into your life. It's why you were brought to earth at this time, and if you are courageous enough to follow your heart, you can trust you'll be led through every step.
If I could sit down with my younger self at the start of my journey, this is what I'd tell her: Be patient with all that sits on your heart. God placed each and every desire there for you to see through to fruition. There is a time for every matter of the heart, so persevere with conviction but do take care of yourself and your needs.
Know that in every moment you decide to live with more passion, joy, love and purpose that you are living your purpose simply by being you. You are lighting up the world around you in every encounter. THere is nothing you need to do to fulfill this purpose other than being the love you were created as.
Every single detail will be carefully tended to by God as you start to plow your garden to prepare for everything that will blossom going forward. Do not rush nature or the process will cease to fold with grace. Trust that whaever God placed on your heart will see the light of day. Until then, keep doing what lights your heart on fire. And if you don't yet know what that is, seek with a curious heart until you find it.
